Version check: the “Check a version” box works entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste there is sent to us.

Website check: when you check a website, we record the time, your IP address, the address you entered and its resolved IP, the result, and your browser’s User-Agent. We use this only to prevent abuse (rate limits), to operate and improve the service, and for aggregate statistics. Records are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Cookies: one strictly necessary session cookie for the security check and form protection, and — only if you pick a language from the menu — a cookie that remembers your choice. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts, no fonts or files from other servers.

Visit statistics: we count page views on our own server, without cookies and without any third-party service. For page views we do not store your IP address; to count unique visitors, your IP address and browser identifier are turned into a one-way code with a key that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked across days. We also record the page, the language, the referring site’s domain and the browser and device type.
